i guess it is a little weird

Trix: I wonder if that boy from Alabama will call me. I hope so.
Sam: You could call him.
Trix: I don’t have his number.
Sam: You didn’t exchange numbers? You just gave him yours?
Trix: Yeah. [half shrug]
Sam: Straight people are so weird.

I never thought about it, but it is weird. I think its left over from the past Men do the choosing, and girls wait by the phone hoping he'll call.

Don't like how it sounds spelled out like that.

I rather not have the dude's number because then I go fucking *INSANE* wanting to call, and it's just nicer to realize that if he calls: he wants to see you, if not: you move on.

Simple.

I agree with Liberty! If he doesn't want to talk to me, then there's no point in me wanting to talk to him. For me, I think the difference is that women are at a disadvantage when we (if we) get pregnant and have kids and it's helpful to be with someone who is CRAZY into us, rather than someone who we have to do all the work to keep around. It's a protection mechanism.

That said-- it's really fun to make the switch to dating women and then try to figure out how these guy/girl heterosexual rules translate to a girl/girl situation. HA. GOOD TIMES FOR ALL.
